2011 Programmes

Welcome to the 2011 winter programme for young Nordic skiers in New Zealand, generously sponsored by the Snow Farm Nordic Ski Area. All winter ski training is based at the Snow Farm using their world class cross country ski trails, and through their generous support, you are offered a package that includes highly discounted/ subsidized ski rentals, trail fees and training.

Pre and Primary School Programs:

minimerinos

Mini Merinos

A five week programme for our younger skiers, focussing on games, fun and fitness and working towards becoming independent skiers.

Learn the FUNdamentals of ski technique. Building towards participation in the Mini Merino Muster event on the 20th of August.

Group one starts 25th June 10:00-12:00, Group 2 starts 30th July 10:00-12:00.

Midi Merinos

Midi Merinos

A five week programme for primary school kids. The focus is on progressing ski technique, exploring the mountain, safety and looking after each other.

While the will move towards some low key competition, the emphasis is on participation. This builds towards participation in the Merino Muster race on August the 20th.

Group one Starts 25th June 10:00- 2:00, and Group 2 starts 30th July 10:00-2:00.

Junior Scholarship Camp

A three day residential camp, combining Cross Country Skiing, back country hut trip and an introduction to Biathlon. This is the perfect way to take the next step up and get your skating up to speed, and really fee like a Nordic Sports Athlete. It’s expected that all participants will have done a set of midi merino or similar lessons before. It will be challenging, try, you’ll need to contribute to a team, work hard and most importantly have FUN.

Cost : $180 includes Coaching, accommodation (one night at snowpark one night at Meadow hut) and catering.

From 20th to the 22nd of July. Accomodation and catering at SnowPark and Skiing at Snow Farm. Ski rental and trail fees payable separately. Book Now

Secondary School Programmes

Youth Camp

A five day residential camp, combining Cross Country Skiing and an introduction to Biathlon. We have high level coaches coming from USA, Sweden and Canada to contribute to this programme. This is not just for elite athletes, it’s for anyone who wants to be challenged, try something new, can contribute to a team, work hard and most importantly have FUN. This camp has been heavily subsidized to invest in the future of our sport.

From 18th to the 22nd of July. Accomodation and catering at SnowPark and Skiing at Snow Farm.

Weekend Youth  Programme

scholarprogA short intensive programme lasting 4 weekends running immediately after the scholarship camp. This offers the chance to really get to grips with cross country skiing and biathlon and feel part of the team. Starting Saturday mornings finishes Sunday afternoon. Do this programme, or the scholarship camp, or both.

Dates: 6th and 7th August, 13th and 14th August, 20th and 21st August, 27th and 28th August.

Cost: $80 for all 4 weekends. This covers all coaching (6 hours per day). ski rental and Trail fees payable separately. Accommodation options available. Book Now

Youth Development Squad

devosquadThe squad is made up of young athletes from previous programmes who have proven their commitment to Nordic Sports and train or compete most weekends.

They benifit from expert coaching, subsidised equipment, overseas competitions, training camps and the opportunity to continue training through a summer coaching programme.

Starts on the 25th of June. $450 including attendance on all both scholarship camps, weekend programme and training with team coach on Saturdays outside of the programmes. Ski rental and Trail fees payable separately. Accommodation options available. Book Now
